You may not just want to use facebook but also Linkedin. Look at social media as having different business locations. Each location will drive a different clientele. You also want to address who is going to manage these pages, because they are going to be the personality for that page.  Once your profile is created look at the privacy settings .Keep in mind who has access to your page; you may not want to be friends with a competitor. First off the reason for other users to be interested in your page is because of the profile. You want to fill in your company’s interests. A majority of social networking sites let you create a profile that helps drive awareness for creating new followers. It’s all about finding correlations with other users. With over 204,689,836 people in North American using the internet daily, you just need to create an avenue to exchange interests. Effective networking and marketing has simply just changed its venue from a couple years ago moving in to newer accommodations online. Similar to going out into public, and founding new customers think about what your business brings to the market. You’re going to use facebook as a meeting ground for new business leads. Addressing who is important but know what to avoid adding to your profile is just as critical.

You want your page to feel sincere and personable but not to personable. Adding little tidbits like who won the company baseball game is fine. You don’t want to update your status with the things that are to detailed about your own personal life. A good example would be status updates related what your family had for dinner. If you want to do those kind of updates create your own personal account. Your page is for business keep business. Share pictures and videos that focus on your business. Don’t just choose images that create a blank slate for customers to try and relate to.  Images of employees receiving awards, or community outreach can go a long way. Your clientele now has a face to associate with your company and who you are. Don’t post images or videos of your holiday party. Keep your company’s post more on the business side of things.

You want your clients to view your products as being associated with a serious business model. You may even want to create event invites through your social media. Let’s say you’re a retail store hosting a special sale. Why not invite all your social media friends. You can track who is attending and who is not. However don’t invite people to a kegger if your focus is business. Once again keep business.  Furthermore the most important thing once again is your privacy settings. Set them up so you know who has access to viewing your information and status updates. Last but not less, don’t be afraid to play around with your new marketing tool. Social media is a marketing so learn how the features works. The more you know about your media the more it is going to help you succeed in your outcome.

Social media takes effort, so don’t get disappointed if you’re not seeing a fast return. Rome was not build in day, so increasing your business traffic takes time.  Even if you’re not increasing your sales right away you are getting leads to new business opportunities. The more you take part in updating and having daily interaction the more you grow.  Getting your company’s goods out into the world is what you want, it just happens to be online. If 300 million people use the same site you can’t go wrong. Just stick to what you want to achieve from using social media for your business.
